Harter Vetoes City Hall Weapons Ban

If the city council is trying to keep the public safe, banning guns is the wrong way to do it.

La Crosse mayor Matt Harter's reasoning for vetoing an ordinance passed by the city council this month that would keep even those with licenses from carrying concealed weapons in city buildings.   Harter says, since preventing those who would legally carry weapons from doing so would mean only criminals would have guns, the city would be preventing properly licensed gun toters from defending themselves and others.   Look for a vote from the council to override the mayor's veto during meetings next month.
