Earn A Buck Gone......Walker Says Just In Time

On Friday, Governor Scott Walker signed a bill that does away with the state's earn a buck program. The new law won't change anything for the upcoming gun deer hunt from November 19th to the 27th. The DNR had already chosen not to implement most earn a buck provisions this year. However, the law means the department won't even have the option in future years. Walker, an avid hunter himself, says hunting in the state is a key topic he will being up again in a few weeks.

The new law also generally prohibits any gun seasons ahead of the traditional November hunt. The law provides for some exceptions for youth, mentored, and disabled hunts and in chronic wasting disease zones. Walker said the new law should ease hunter frustrations.
