****Bomb Scare Update***** 10:41pm

A bomb scare has cleared out several blocks near downtown Tomah.

Tomah police say the car was found parked near the First Bank of Tomah.  Right now all lanes of Highway 12 are blocked off from Monroe street to Council street. A four block area in the city has been evacuated. A robot from the Fort McCoy Fire Department is also there. The car is actually parked in an intersection of Superior and Monowau Streets. The Dane County Bomb Squad is on scene as of 9:45pm and federal agents have been called out.

It all started a little before 4pm this afternoon when an officer found the vehicle and heard a beeping noise coming from the trunk. When the officer looked inside, he saw what could be items used to make an explosive device.

The owner of the car has a history with the police department, and is being detained but not charged yet as no actual crime has been committed.
