Group Wants Proof Power Line is Needed

Plenty of companies are doing the hard sell on a big new power transmission line that will run from La Crosse to Madison.  American Transmission Company is holding public information sessions in the area this week. Meanwhile, Linda Van Art, with the group Citizens Energy Task Force, says some questions about the project just aren't getting answered well enough.   Van Art wants better info on who's paying for the line, who benefits from it, and whether it's needed at all.    Van Art wants the companies funding the 345 kilovolt line to put their money instead towards local power generation and energy conservation efforts.
