West Salem Signs Complete Streets Policy

Lacrosse is going to sign it....Onalaska and Holman are discussing it......but West Salem signed it. The Complete Streets program. And they became the first city in the state to do it. It's a pedestrian and bike-friendly policy that was approved by unanimous vote by the West Salem Village Board and it states that the village will strive to accommodate bicycles and
pedestrians on new roadway projects.

Jack Zibrowski, the Lacrosse County Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator says West Salem will see better sidewalks and bike lanes, wider shoulders and ramps for the disabled.

Zibrowski says that that changes won't be earthshaking to begin with but in 10 or 15 years it could be a huge difference. It helps people to enjoy their homes and their community.
