Flooding Delays River Clean-up, Among Other Events

Last year, the count was 80. That's how many 55 gallon drums volunteers pulled from the Mississippi during the DNR's River Clean-Up day around La Crosse. And there were the 28 tires, a ton of scrap metal and two major appliances, among many other things. Another river clean-up is coming this year--it will be the 19th since the event started. But this year, a little later than planned because of the flooding. The river clean-up, scheduled for this Saturday, has been moved to May 21st. It's just the latest event to get rescheduled around high water this spring. Some events in the city's Fitness Festival at the end of this month have also been moved around a bit to get around the low-lying soggy parts of the city.
