DNR Meeting In Westby

Wildlife biologists with the state Department of Natural Resources invite anyone interested in the status of the deer herd in Crawford, La Crosse, Monroe and Vernon counties to attend an open house public meeting Monday afternoon from 4-8 p.m. in Westby.

This is the first and best opportunity for hunters and other interested individuals to discuss the structure of the 2011 deer hunting seasons with DNR wildlife managers. Biologists will talk about the current size of the deer population and the strategy being suggested to manage these deer populations. Also on the update on efforts to control CWD, a fatal disease affecting deer in south central Wisconsin.

The meeting takes place in the community room of the Bekkum Memorial Library.
