2 Out Of 3 School Referendums Pass

School referendums were a hot ticket in some voting areas of Western Wisconsin yesterday.

Onalaska voters approved giving the school district $4.2 million over the next 3 years. The owner of a $100 thousand property will pay $45 more for school property taxes in 2011-12, $36 more the second year and $38 more the third year.

Melrose-Mindoro voters said yes to a referendum there that will give the school district $425 thousand a year for 3 years.

Not the same in Independence though as, by a two to one margin, voters did not approve a $1.2 million referendum. It would would’ve replaced a referendum approved in April 2007.
