Meth-using car thief to face charges

He will be in court today for admitting he stole a car. Benjamin Stetzer approached an officer parked in his squad off of James Street around 7 a.m. July Fifth. The 20-year-old La Crosse man told the cop he was still "tweaking" from meth two days prior and paranoid the police were following him. Cop offered him a ride, but he wanted to get his phone which was lying in the weeds. The officer followed him over, and questioned Stetzer about the 89 Buick that was parked there. The Halves Have it For High School Ballers

For nearly a decade, high school basketball in Minnesota has played with two 18-minute halves. Thursday, the WIAA made the same change. For a one-year trial, varsity basketball in Wisconsin will no longer be 8-minute quarters. The board voted 7-to-4 for the change. It's not the first time the WIAA has tried to adopt halves. During the 2009-10 season, coaches had the choice to play 16-minute halves for regular-season, non-conference games. The experiment was rarely used.

Logan Softball Puts Stellar Season on the Line

It has a 26-and-1 record heading into the Division 2, WIAA state tournament. That one loss for the Logan High School softball team? It came 1-0 to Stevens Point in early May. And now that his Rangers are at state, coach Matt Marohl wouldn't mind being undefeated.  But the team has learned plenty from that one loss and he'll accept it if it helps them win state.

Logan has been ranked number one all season. At 8 p.m. tonight in Madison, the Rangers open with a 25-and-5 New London team that was the runner-up at state last year and won it all two seasons ago.
