Western Tech breaks ground on new veterans center

About 1,000 military connected students attend Western Technical College every year.

Their current Military Veteran Center, which struggles with space and amenities, is getting a facelift.

Ground was broken Wednesday on a 1,400-square-foot space, located between the Business Education Center and Academic Resource Center.

The $820,000 project was funded by the college, the Western Foundation, as well as private donations.

The center is designed to allow a space for veterans to chat with other vets, as well as a place to access student resources and more. It should be finished by fall.

About 700 veterans take classes at Western every year.
