Bushek murder: Autopsy conducted, investigation continues

Written by

Police are not yet saying why they suspect a La Crosse woman was murdered.

They aren't releasing much new information about the murder investigation of a La Crosse woman whose body was found in a Vernon County lake Sunday.

The body of 35-year-old Erin Bushek was found in Runge Hollow Lake by an angler.

La Crosse police sergeant Tom Walsh says the investigation is in early stages.

"This is being conducted as a homicide investigation and we're going to leave it at that right now," Walsh said. "An autopsy is being completed on the body of Ms. Bushek and searchwarrants are being completed, as well."

Walsh would not say what evidence has police investigating Bushek's death as a homicide. He did say search warrants are being prepared in the case.

La Crosse, Vernon County and state police are working on the case.

"Ms. Bushek went missing from the city of La Crosse, and the body being located in Vernon County, they would have jurisdiction there," Walsh said. "And then, certianly, in most cases, we always involve the Division of Criminial Investiation and their expertiese in being able to assist us in these investigations."

Bushek disappeared from her La Crosse apartment early this month, leaving her car, keys, purse and medication behind.
