A La Crosse man and woman are in jail after an armed robbery at the Mileage Station on Cass Street.

Police responded to the robbery at 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Frank Lewis is accused of coming into the store, acting like he was buying something. The 40-year-old then pulling a BB gun on the clerk, demanding money.

The cashier started to take out some of the money but Lewis then threatened to kill her if she didn't give him all of it.

He stuffed the cash in his pocket and got into a getaway car, a minivan, driven by his girlfriend, 51-year-old Kymberly Cole.

Police stopped the two behind an apartment building at 612 7th Street South and taken into custody.

Lewis denied being part of the robbery during questioning before asking for a lawyer.

About $600 in assorted bills was reported stolen.

Of that, about $400 was found either on Clark or in the van.

The BB gun, which police said looked very real, was located 30 feet from the van, missing a grip that was found in the vehicle.
