The Great River Road has been deemed the best fall drive in Wisconsin.

Highway 35, along the western border of the state, won a state tourism contest called The Ultimate Fall Drive Showdown.

The stretch that runs through La Crosse down to Prairie du Chien received 1,700 votes -- nearly 400 more than the second-place highway, in Door County.

La Crosse County is also represented in the Top 10 by a 90-mile stretch of Highway 33, between La Crosse and Baraboo.

Ten scenic routes appeared on the Travel Wisconsin ballot.
