Project spans four states and was opposed for environmental reasons

It's been on the drawing board for years, and has been opposed for environmental reasons, but the CapX 2020 power line is now complete.

A section of line in South Dakota was dedicated on Wednesday.

The $2 billion project includes high-voltage lines in the Dakotas, Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The eastern point of the project, at a substation near Holmen, was dedicated two years ago.

Designers of the CapX project say it will improve access to increasing sources of solar and wind power.
