La Crosse's Habitat for Humanity kicking off fundraiser for expansion

Group hopes to raise $2 million for operation and services.

After 25 years, the La Crosse Area Habitat for Humanity is looking to expand.

The group is starting a $2-million fundraising campaign to expand its operation and services.

"Just taking a look around our community, the need for affordable and decent housing is paramount right now," Habitat executive director Kahya Fox said. "The city of La Crosse has a lot of aging housing stock and some very low-value housing."

Fox says expanding the Neighborhood Revitalization Program is very important, given its success.

The group is also celebrating 25 years in La Crosse from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the ReStore on Aug. 19. Join the Facebook group here.
