More choices needed at ballot box

Written by

More choices please. America should have more choices at the ballot box. Because more often than not, when we cast our ballot, we make our decision based on the lesser of two evils. Why is it that only candidates from two political parties have any possible shot of winning a federal election? If you are not a democrat or a republican and want to be President of the United States, you can forget about it. Former Presidential candidate John Kasich, current Governor of Ohio, addressed that in a weekend interview. Kasich said both political parties have failed American citizens. He is right. Increasingly, Americans, particularly young people, are disillusioned with both political parties. The party bosses, whose only goal is to get their candidates elected, aren’t really talking about the deepest concerns of voters. They do what they want because the system allows them to. It is rigged. Kasich is predicting an end to the two-party system, and he may be on to something. More candidates means more choices, and make it more likely we can feel good about voting for a candidate who really cares about the things we care about.
